Best practice indicates supporting parents and children in their environment. (Best practice) Once the assessment and treatment plan are completed, a trained behavioral coach can be provided to support parents and the child with the implementation of the plan. To be most effective and affordable, I believe therapy needs to be provided in the child’s environment. This advantage allows our team to observe the child in realtime and provide training, modeling, and feedback immediately. Working together as a team with the family and child, we can develop a practical transition plan, to eventually “fire me” (positively), based on the family’s understanding and ability to implement the treatment plan and adjust as needed.
